HOW TO PAINT

Before Painting / Preparation

Get painting tools ready. Suggest to prepare: Paint brush, roller brush, paint tray, rags, tape, cutter, newspaper or plastic sheet for covering.

Remove or cover light switch and outlet faceplates, doorknobs, and tape or cover windows.

Move aside or cover furniture.

Cover the floors with newspaper or blue sheets to protect against paint drips.

Last but certainly not least, make sure the area you are painting is well ventilated.

Follow the "How to Prepare the Room" part before beginning

Now you're ready to paint! Choose interior paint that suits your needs and taste. We suggest Universal Professional Flat or Semi-gloss or Universal Plus Flat or Semi-gloss. For added anti-microbial protection, use Universal Advantage.

Important!

  • Always stir paint before using.
  • If using several gallons, try to mix this together in one container to make the color consistent.

Important!

A primer or undercoat is a preparatory coating put on the surface before topcoat paint. Why is it important?

  • This is the first coat.
  • Priming ensures better adhesion of topcoat to the surface
  • Increases paint durability
  • Provides additional protection for the material being painted.

Pro Tip! It may not be necessary to primer previously painted surface except to "spot prime" areas where paint has peeled off.

Corners first:

Dip your brush in the paint, remove excess paint.

  • Start brush in a few centimeters from the corner or edge.
  • Drag the brush so that the line on the paint follows the edging.
  • Paint along with the corners where the roller brush cannot go to.
  • This is like creating a painted border.

Important! Maintain a wet edge with the painted corner so your roller can blend into the brushed paint.

After corners, it's time to paint the areas where a roller brush will be used. To put paint on your roller brush:

  • Put paint on the tray - make sure it's not overflowing.
  • Place roller brush on the outer edge of the sloping part of the tray.
  • Push it forward on the tray and continue rolling it back & forth over the tray with full rotations to spread the paint evenly.

Start from where you cut in (#4) and roll across the wall. For best results, roll as far into the brushed area as possible.

Pro Tip! Paint in a 'W' motion

  • Make a W on the wall
  • Fill the area without paint and continue

This will ensure an even distribution across your wall.

After painting the first coat, observe the inter-coat time then apply second or third coats as needed.

When done, peel tape off on areas you may have applied it to.

Important!
Do not let the paint dry before peeling tape as this may also tear the paint off.
